Fred’s son Kenton, who worked alongside him, took over operations of the business in 1970 and moved it from the farm to the current pit location at the corner of Cook Road and Lamlie Road.
For years, Kenton worked at the yard while his wife Janne did all the bookkeeping. The busy season for peat moss also happened to fall during the busy season for the farm. With the help of his father and his son Dan, Kenton was able to run the business while they took care of the farm and their 400 head of hogs.
